A lot has changed ever since this guy came out (iPhone 5s) screens got bigger and bezzels got smaller and today in 2018 you can pick this thing up (iPhone 5s) for less than hundred dollars so is it worth it how does it perform and should you get one or should you even be using one let's find out the Starwood designed this is one of the legendary designs from Apple in fact Apple is still selling this design and the square-shaped body has the iPhone se it does have some upgraded processors and a better camera and it's definitely gonna be a little faster than this guy but it's also gonna be a lot more expensive where with this thing you can get a use 5s for less than hundred dollars factory unlocked and not only that this is still one of the best phones you can get for one hand use unless you have to budget for the SE which has also significantly dropped in price ever since the iPhone 10 and make sure you check that review if you haven't already and in the meanwhile I'll really appreciate if you take a second out to subscribe but anyways back to the topic you can't fall for the small screen size this thing still has a lot of power and features packed in this little body holding it in hand is still feels quite premium and even stands out with competition to the iPhone X so to put into simple words there's nothing the iPhone X can do and this thing can't when it comes to deal usage it's so beautiful looking phone and honestly the only downfall in terms of design would be the 4-inch display and has we started moving towards bezel as phones and a bigger screen size it won't be much longer the big bezel phones would start to disappear but if you are okay with the small screen size for now this thing.


definitely has a lot to offer it's also one of the few phones with a headphone jack so you may also see that has added benefit other than that we have a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera which is a little outdated nowadays but is still gets the job done the back facing camera is 8 megapixels which is also a little outdated when it comes to pixels but performance wise it performs just fine the pictures are still really sharp a lot of detail and good colours and that's honestly what matters here especially if you're taking pictures to upload them on Instagram snapchat or anywhere on the internet because they will end up compressing your pictures and videos so a 8 or a 12 megapixel camera after the compression wouldn't really make a big difference or moving on speaking in terms of stories this is where the iPhone 5s is we left behind the 5s was available in 16 32 and 64gb but for the most part if you're buying a used you will probably find it in 16gb to be honest 16gb is very limited storage in 2018 the best choice on the iPhone X is 64gb which is also arguably less than it should be so living with a 16gb device would be even harder and would limit the storage you do have to compromise a lot in terms of performance the amount of apps you can download the amount of songs and pictures and all of that data you can have on your phone so if you're interested in the 5s go for a bigger storage than the bass one it will ask you a lot longer also speaking terms of storage after upgrading to iOS 11 I did get some storage back since iOS 11 is a little smaller and a little more optimized and that optimization does make the iPhone 5s still usable in 2018 it's running on 64-bit system with the Apple a7 chip and surprisingly enough this thing came out with iOS 7 and look at it today still fighting competition with iOS 11 now with iOS 11 up noticed there's a lot between you pressing the button and the application actually launching up and data also takes a little bit longer to load on the iPhone 5s but the good thing is once the app is up and running it won't really make a difference if you're using it on a 5s or an iPhone X new phones are definitely faster but there are ten times the money and can bring that with the price the iPhone 5s is totally worth it especially when playing games I've noticed the gaming experience isn't that bad comparing how all this phone is and how affordable it is nowadays it overall does a great job although in some games I've noticed graphics are a little compromised to keep up with performance and the iPhone 5s does heat up a little bit but that's normal when playing high intensive games other than that looking at the home screen scrolling around you won't really find a big difference from iOS 10 to hours unless you notice the small animation changes or the control panel which is an easy giveaway and I'm talking about iOS 10 and 11 here because I've noticed after a win to iOS Levin the phone seems a little bit slower than they used to be an apple recently admitted to slowing down devices on purpose to save battery losing power causing unexpected shutdowns so this is something I figured out before Apple officially declared it and it kind of makes sense looking at it from Apple side partial effort in making you upgrade to a newer device and partially maintaining the standard of even old devices I personally had problems with my iPhone 5s suddenly powering off even when the battery was 20 to 30% now you are able to get the performance back and remove the software limitations by replacing your battery it's actually fairly cheap and easy and you can do it yourself at home if you absolutely want the performance back now using third-party apps and serving our content it does take a little bit longer to load when I reviewed this phone with iOS 10 I was quite happy with performance with iOS 11 it seems to be a little more compromised in terms of speed but the native animations things like control panel and the basic software performs pretty good like everything is the instant quick and snappy you don't feel like you're using old phone until you start loading content that's the only place that takes a little bit longer.





That's when you feel like you have old device in terms of battery life it has a 15 70 milliamp battery which is smaller but the phone is even smaller it has a small processor and a smaller display to power and if you do end up replacing the battery you will get a few extra hours on usage but to put into perspective the phone I have takes about two hours to fully kill the battery when playing high intensive games and I never ended up changing my batteries and I had this phone for about two years now and it was heavily used doing regular self like I would in a normal day like checking social media listening to music it kind of gets me half way through the day if I compromise how much I'm using my phone I can pull it off till school ends by carrying a proverb Aang would be ideal with a phone like this and this is what I get for my phone things might be a little different for you it totally depends on how old your phone is if the value was every placed and how heavily your phone has been used but again if value became an issue it can easily be changed in fact I'll link a replacement kit down below along with some affordable power banks but wrapping things up in terms of performance it still performs really good for someone who doesn't want to spend a ton or for someone who doesn't use their phone that much and comparing to what you're paying you're still getting a lot is so fully functional phone great camera and if you're okay waiting a few seconds for stuff to load up you can save a ton the small body size is great for one-hand use and very comfortable to carry around the only thing.Thanks for reading.

Today but what do we have here at brand-new 2018 BMW m5 and I'd like to thank my friend Jeff quick of Edmonton BMW he's made this all possible Jeff do you have anything you'd like to say well mark it's it's a beautiful car beautiful new redesigned we're obviously happy to be showcasing it at our dealership and we're happy to facilitate the videos for you and we're gonna have a lot of fun today sounds great and so today we're just going to review do some interior specification review talk about some of the newer updates of the car well again thanks for having me now let's talk about some of the interior features how about some of the ergonomics like the dash and the iDrive system in these cars how has that changed so Mark lots of lots of changes in this in this new redesign obviously full digital instrument panel coupled with our new I Drive and a larger screen on the 11:5 absolutely beautiful designed to look at of course as you change your different settings so too will the displays change but very very sporty cockpit layout and it's really nice to look at yeah I have to say that you know I know Audi sort of led the game a little bit there for a while on the digital dashes but I see BMWs right there and these guys are certainly a pleasure to look at you know they're very realistic but it's it's the way of the future and certainly they're right there too you talk about the future I mean the way that this instrument panel and cluster pairs up with the new heads-up display as well and maybe we'll get a shot of that later but the heads-up display has been also tweaked so that it's a little bit easier to read and it's a little bit more sporty now so perfect and then what can you tell me about the M drive, I Drive system in these cards so the I Drive it's been slowly getting progressively better easier to manipulate a little bit more user-friendly obviously our I Drive has been one of the leaders in the industry as well obviously we have the touchscreen now and maybe we can pan over to that after the touchscreen is great you can use it just like a smartphone the connectivity the reliability is perfect but the big thing is obviously the screen size as well so it's not going to impede your vision which you need to look at from the cockpit it's perfectly placed Berg anomaly it's just a beautiful flown out to to the entire the entire cockpit yeah and I see yeah the gesture controls that's a new addition as well it is the gesture control is a really nice feature some may call it gimmicky but again it just creates a oneness with with the driver and the machine and you can actually create your own sign language for the car so it recognizes that simply if you don't want to take somebody's call you can wave it away and you know say if you know the girlfriend calls or something but and easily to turn up the volume just with a turn over every cast snapped you was thinking a turn of the the fingers really neat stuff like this is very progressive and this is the way that BMWs going this is the future of the technology so perfect yeah looks great I noticed the - not overly cluttered but again and you know it's just a nice evolution from what we've seen in the the f10 this being of course the f9d the latest generation sure yeah well I mean the BMW is timeless in that sense I mean they don't want to really overwhelm the user it's they've they've really created the perfect ergonomic elimin for power performance luxury and comfort BMW has always been simplistic in terms of its design and there's no question there's been some big upgrades but it's not going to be totally unfamiliar to you if you're if you've been in at anytime soon mm-hmm yeah no it looks great I see it looks like we have you know a leather wrap on the dashboard is this is this an upgrade or is this is gonna be one of the standard things especially for the new m5 obviously the extended trim you have leather all the way up the dashboard all the way up the the sides of the car on the door frames but yeah the dash here right up to the window sill is all beautifully hand-stitched leather is perfect yeah it looks great.


 

I see it looks like we have you know a leather wrap on the dashboard is this is this an upgrade or is this is gonna be one of the standard things especially for the new m5 obviously the extended trim you have leather all the way up the dashboard all the way up the the sides of the car on the door frames but yeah the dash here right up to the window sill is all beautifully hand-stitched leather is perfect yeah it looks great it is it's a good it's a beautiful car anything worth mentioning on the iDrive itself the controls I notice it's you know it's a lot nicer to use it's a lot cleaner than you know and I'd like to make reference to my e60 m5 which is one of the early generations a TM drive or I Drive and it's not nice it's delayed it's pauses the graphics are sloppy this is much much nicer yeah instantaneous I would call it there's a seamless transition between the touch and what is displayed here on on the display screen on the LED screen the ceramic controls obviously feel a lot nicer in your hands you can even scroll on this something what they adopted early in 2014 they have just kept on getting it better and better and better but the ceramic controls are a really nice feature and just your hand naturally goes right over to here like I said the ergonomics are smartly engineers perfect now I notice there's a lot of adjustability in you know with these controls there's other controls here we've got Hill assist but more importantly the real meat and potatoes with an M car is the adjustability on the performance settings right very very true obviously you can adjust things like your your suspension you're steering the transmission the ship's points how the engine performs on the fly we can change the setup as we're driving so that's what these ceramic controls here are on the side obviously this is a brand new shifter that's come into in to affect the styling the way that your hand grips around the shift is awesome now beautiful redesign you can adjust everything like I said on the fly but you can also set it up for presets so that you can just and you will we'll take a look at that later how it integrates with the steering wheel perfect I noticed you had mentioned as well with that I mean you can alter the ship speed or the shift points not very easily like you say right Park it's all integrated in one control it's very clean and it's attractive as well it doesn't hurt that it's even been organ amelie improved but also cosmetically for sure it also has the high quality steering wheel as you'd expected nothing but an AM car of course in the M buttons that are fully programmable for your sports selection settings of course the new stick shift in the 8-speed auto here is totally new totally revamped and you'll notice the shift speed settings the buttons are adjustable on top the cockpit Wow leather from top to bottom high quality door panels you notice the speaker on the top left high quality speaker system and trim is second to none as well leather interior from top to bottom and the back seats are typical for a 5 Series BMW lots of room for everybody three people in the back of course and AM badging everywhere in this machine beautiful touches as well as the seat belt webbing you've noticed as well.Thanks

The 2018 MacBook Air is Better than You Think

Today we've got the 2018 MacBook Air .There's actually a little pull tab, so we're gonna pretend that didn't happen. That's actually very, very similar to that Apple Pencil. So this also qualifies as classic plastic. Pop the lid off, set that aside. Mmm, space gray. Tastier, shinier. (plastic peeling off) (bass-heavy techno beat) Now, initial impressions, kinda looking at this for the first time in person outside the event, I can definitely see that MacBook Air thinness profile. Where the MacBook Pro is like kinda just stay one constant thickness, the MacBook Air actually tappers off towards the end so it's actually thinner here than it is on the opposite side. And if you stack it side-by-side against a MacBook Pro, you can definitely see that difference. From there, moving on to the accessories, which I realize are probably more than likely going to trigger some people. Specifically with this teeny-tiny little guy, the 30 watt charger in the box and-- - What!? - I realize people are going to judge it, look at it, compare it and say, (scoffs) "that's your charger? "Mine is at least twice that size." Congratulations, I am proud of you and your giant wall charger. That aside though, this actually coincides with all the drama and controversy with this MacBook Air and the Y-series chip set inside this. I swear to you that the day this was announced, people were freaking out, going in threads and in forums, just being the keyboard warriors that they are, saying that this is trash, how could Apple do this without actually using the product? Contrary to that initial speculation though, it's been confirmed that there's actually a seven watt chip inside here as opposed to five which still has people kinda upset because they need more power, where's my 15 watt processor, how could you possibly do this to me? That out of the way though, we have the USBC cable and finally some Apple stickers. And I'm peeking through there, and something looks a little special. And, yup, we got some space gray Apple stickers. I am very, very excited right now. I have seen like the classic Mac Pro black Apple stickers, but I have never seen space gray Apple stickers! So with the iPad Pro we got the big-ass Apple stickers, and with this we got the beautiful, beautiful space gray version. So without a doubt the biggest upgrade with this MacBook Air is gotta be the display. In my initial impressions video I said that the previous MacBook Air display was trash, and I realize that might have been a little harsh. But the thing is, if you use Retina before and then went back to that there's absolutely no way you couldn't notice the difference. Beyond that, there are a ton of other improvements.

Better speakers, which blow the previous MacBook Air out of the water, and I will definitely have a comparison in my full review. You have touch ID which is missing on the 13 inch MacBook Pro without touch bar. Even better track pads. So even though people are kinda dismissing this early in the game, as you can see there's quite a bit to look foreword to. Now, for those that watch the channel, you guys know I like to put things through its paces, test them out, see how they actually perform in the real world, but, not gonna lie, I'm a little curious to see the initial performance comparison Geekbench of this MacBook Air against the slightly more expensive 13 inch MacBook Pro without touch bar. So, grabbing the 13 inch MacBook Pro, they're very similar. I can definitely actually already feel the weight difference on this 13 inch MacBook Pro over the MacBook Air. And, again, right there, I think that's going to be a selling point for a lot of people. So I got Geekbench 4 loaded up on both the MacBook Pro and the 2018 MacBook Air. My initial impression, or actually prediction rather, is that, yes, this MacBook Pro is probably gonna be faster, but again the point of this MacBook Air is not gonna be sheer performance, but rather getting somewhere close but giving you a lighter and more portable form factor. So we're getting close. So the MacBook Air actually just finished up with a single-core score of 4,312 and a multi-core score of 7,846. From there we have the MacBook Pro finishing up, and we're actually way closer than I would have expected. Single-core performance, they are pretty much just like equal: 4,466 on the MacBook Pro, 4,312 on the MacBook Air.
The MacBook Pro does have a faster multi-core score of 9,340, but again, based off this having a measly seven watt Y-series chip, the performance isn't as huge as maybe some would have guessed. Again, the point of this MacBook Air is not to be a powerhouse. It's going to give you MacBook Pro-like performance but in a smaller and more portable form factor. On top of that, you have things like touch ID, which is missing on this MacBook Pro. You have the T2 chip inside the MacBook Air. And one thing I also wanna address is the comparison against the 12 inch MacBook, and one huge advantage of this over that is going to be the fact that you have thunderbolt three ports as opposed to just USBC.Hopefully you enjoyed the article. iPhone XS Max Review

iPhone XS Max Review


When Apple announced to the world that the price tag on it's iPhone XS Max would start at $1100, my reaction went like this. Now that's not because I'm inherently averse to four-figure smartphones. As I said in my latest Samsung review, the Galaxy Note9 packs in enough capability to justify it's price. But when Apple does it, it's different. Because, let's get right into it, this is the company that continues to ship these top-end phones with the very slowest charger you can find. You wanna a faster top-up, that'll be $50 for the charger, please. Oh, and don't forget the $19 cable, either, which is also the only way you can connect to a new MacBook without a dongle. This is the company that, more than any other, is responsible for the inconvenient omission of the headphone jack on phones. Until now, it's offered the convenience of an adapter in the box, so you can still use your own headphones. Well, no more. That'll be $9. And while everyone else is standardizing around USB-C for their charging ports, Apple stubbornly sticks with it's own lightning port. That means, when I go on a trip, I can charge my Android phone, Bluetooth headphones, laptop and gaming console, all using a single cable. When I toss in an iPhone, not so much. And so the question then becomes, how, despite all of this, is Apple still a trillion dollar company? Or maybe, more directly, why do people keep buying iPhones? (rock music) You don't need to look any further than my own comment section to see the reflexive answer to that question, that the company's customers are sheep who will buy anything with an Apple logo on it.

. Obviously, that's garbage. The truth is tougher for some to swallow. This, right here, really is one of the best smartphones you can buy. And even as someone who prefers Android, I'm here to tell ya, it's better, in some ways, than your Android phone. Take the screen. DisplayMate says the OLED panel on the iPhone XS Max has close to textbook perfect calibration and performance. But that's not really all that special. You can also get a nearly perfect display on the aforementioned Galaxy Note 9. Where Apple stands out is in how it builds that display into the phone. Almost everyone has a notch in their phones thee days, but Apple is one of the only companies I've seen that doesn't also introduce an unsightly chin below the display. That's because Apple's design folds the OLED panel back on itself giving more room for the display controller which, no doubt, increases the cost of manufacture. Also driving up those costs is the reason the notch is there in the first place. An improved cluster of cameras and sensors for Face ID, which lets you unlock the phone just by looking at it. This is the first year Apple is replacing fingerprint sensors with Face ID across the whole lineup. Well I kinda ranted about that when the news first broke, a week with the phone has gotten me used to it. Watching all my waiting messages unlock as the phone recognizes my face still feels like wizard magic. And while I still think fingerprint sensors are more convenient, Face ID is now fast and reliable enough that, if you told me I had to use it exclusively, I could live with it. Also faster and more reliable, wireless charging, which I had to use in a hotel room recently because I'd forgotten to pack a lightning cable. (slow upbeat music) The iPhone XS Max scores another win with iOS 12. Gestures were introduced in last year's iPhone X, but they've been honed here. It's now much easier to trigger reachability with a swipe down on the gesture bar which brings notifications within range of your thumb. Those notifications are also now grouped into batches by app, making them much easier to deal with. I've really gotten into the swing of fast app switching by swiping on the gesture bar. And it's just as handy today as it was when palm first introduced it back in 2009. And, while iOS's system-wide back gesture isn't new, it's especially handy on a phone as big as the Max. You just swipe from the left side to go back in basically any app. It's great. I'm also seeing what others have reported since iOS 12 dropped. Performance is very fast, in particular with respect to launching the camera, which we'll come to in a second. Battery life is also quite good. The XS Max usually got me to bed after a 14-hour day, with about 20% remaining.




In my kind of usage, which is heavy on streaming audio over Bluetooth, that endurance puts this iPhone behind Huawei and Blackberry and slightly ahead of the Galaxy Note9. I still have all my usual issues with iOS. The boring grid of apps. The lack of customizability. The confusing button assignments and the strangely unbalanced looking power screen. It's like they didn't finish it. And Siri continues to kind of wallow along as a sometimes helpful, but usually not, sidekick. But making up for all that is a catalog of higher quality apps that are almost always more fully-featured to use than their Android counterparts. The exceptions tend to be Google apps like YouTube Studio, which stutter more on the iPhone. As I say, that's all familiar stuff but the silicon driving the experience is brand new. Apple's new A12 processor is built on a seven nanometer process, which is technically, very interesting, but we're tight on time, so I'm gonna skip past it and just tell you that it powers everything from the dialer app to the enhanced camera features. The former produces the very same crisp quality voice calls as the prior model, while the latter, well, take a look. (techno music) To give the iPhone XS Max the full credit it deserves, this is a camera I'd trust with almost any task I usually come upon. And, as you saw before, that includes filming a walk and talk on a suburban sidewalk. The ad spot you'll see at the end of this video has some excellent slow motion clips from the XS Max to go along with this one. And if you need more features than the simple camera app offers, there are plenty of options in the app store. But by now, you've probably heard of the strange beautification effects the new HDR mode has on selfies. More annoying to me is that this phone still doesn't do portrait.Thanks for Reading.

Top 5 BEST Smartphones of 2018

Top 5 BEST Smartphones of 2018

Where does the time go? But you guys know that towards the end of each year I usually do a video with my top five smartphone picks for that year. Now the problem with that is devices that are released early in the year are sometimes forgotten or superseded by other devices and lots of you guys might want to buy a new smartphone right now. You might not want to wait a few months and that's why we're making this video, which is the top five best smartphones of 2018 so far. Right now, before we get into it, a few disclaimers. These are smartphones of 2018, so they are devices that have been released this year. Yes, there's some great devices that were released towards the end of last year, but we're not going to be counting those in this video. This is 2018 specifically, and also, devices that you can buy right now, not devices which may have been announced already, but are going to be coming in the next few months. These are devices that you should be able to just go out and buy right now. Now with the disclaimer, I've used lots of smartphones this year, but of course, I've not used every single one, so this is my personal top five list. Of course, it might be different from yours, but that's okay. We can still be friends. We don't have to fight. Just drop your top five list in the comments below. Final disclaimer, this list is in no particular order. I'm just giving you my top five picks, but I will be giving you my overall favorite so far at the end of this video. Let's kick of straight away and the first device on this list, once again in no particular order, is the Huawei P20 Pro. Now, this is actually my favorite device that has come from Huawei. I've seen love be built and designed. The gradient finish is very unique and looks very, very slick. It's also, I believe, one of the first, if not the first, smartphone out there with a proper triple camera setup. It takes great images, especially when it comes to zoom. It's got the best zoom on a smartphone right now. Three times optical zoom as well as five times hybrid zoom, and the night mode is absolutely awesome. It takes a four second exposure or like multiple shots over four seconds and it gives you very bright low light images. It's also got great battery life. We've got a 4,000 mAh battery, which should last you all day long. Now, it's not perfect. There's definitely things that can be improved here. Although the images it takes are absolutely great overall, the same cannot be said for video. You've got no stabilization at 4K, which is very disappointing, and generally, I'm not a fan of the software. There's lot of things such as beauty mode, which you really just cannot switch off, and it blows a resolution of video. There's just a few thing in the UI which I think definitely could be improved. We have a notch, which I know a lot of you guys don't like and we've got a full HD plus resolution, not quite HD and at this price, which is around 800 pounds in the UK, some of these things I would have expected and also the fact that it's got the Kirin 970 which is a great processor but this is last year's processor and if you are charging flagship prices this year, then I would expect a new processor that really competes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. However, if you can get over some of those things then the P20 Pro is a great option. Now the next device on my list, of course, is the OnePlus 6. Now what I find about OnePlus devices is that because there's two OnePlus devices that are released throughout the year, we have the regular version, then we have the T toward the end of the year. The main version released earlier in the year tend to get forgotten towards the end of the year so in my top five list last year, the OnePlus 5T was there but the OnePlus 5 wasn't because it was a few months old by that time. This is a very good reason for videos like this. 
The OnePlus 6 is an absolutely awesome device and I've said this many times before, but it is the best bang for the buck device that you can buy right now in my opinion. I mean, for 470 pounds for a 64 gigabyte base model is absolutely insane. That's less than half the price of the iPhone 10. You could buy two OnePlus 6 devices and have money left over for maybe some Bullets Wireless earphones compared to something like the iPhone 10. And for that price, you're actually getting the really good package. You've got a great open design. You've got a pretty good full HD Plus AMOLED display. It's also one of the overall fastest devices that I've tested with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. A base of 6 gigabytes of RAM. You've still got one of the fastest charging methods on a smartphone right now. Cameras have also been improved, although I wouldn't say they are as good as some other devices overall, but generally speaking, they are great cameras for the price and you've still got a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. Now you do miss certain things like stereo speakers, and you don't have an official IP water-resistant rating although it's absolutely fine and as with the P20 Pro, we do have a notch, which, once again, I know a lot of you guy don't like but overall, for the package that you get for the price, the OnePlus 6 is a great device. I can definitely recommend it. Now the next device on my list is the LG G7. I'm not going to say the full name and although it might not really stand out from the crowd where we've got so many other great smartphones, it comes in at 600 pounds in the UK, which, in my opinion, what you're getting is an absolutely great price. We've got a super bright LCD display with Quad HD+ resolution. And the G7 has something which many of the devices don't have and that is a wide angle camera and actually find myself taking this with me in many places simply because of that wide angle camera. And LG have product take lots of boxes so you've got a nice built in design, you've got water resistance, you've got expandable memory, you also got a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack with a hi-fi plug die and you've got a boom box speaker so although it's not a separate speaker, it does use the space inside the device as a residence chamber. It does sound pretty good, especially if you've got it on a hard surface. And once again as the previous devices, it does have a notch. I know I mention the notch a lot but some of you guys are so passionately against it, something that I do have to mention. And it's got a 3,000 mAh battery which is okay but it's definitely something that I think could have been better. But once again, I have to come back to that price. 600 pounds for the G7 is a great price for what you're getting and for that reason it has made my top five list. Now the next devices on my list and I'm kind of coupling them together are the Sony Xperia XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact would just about made it. Now with the XZ2 Compact, I've said this before, but it is the best compact smartphone that you can buy right now on Android and we really don't see many small smartphones these days but a lot of people still prefer something that's a lot more manageable and the XZ2 Compact really comes in at this category. With both the XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact, they offer something that's not available on any other smartphone right now and that is 4K HDR video recording which is really quite cool to have that on a smartphone. Now images are not as great to be honest, especially when it comes to low light. I don't know why Sony are obsessed with going 419 megapixels. I think they should lower the megapixels and really concentrate on an overall great package. But you do have water resistance which Sony has been doing for a long time. You have expandable memory and you also have three speakers although you don't have a 3.5 headphone jack. But the bezels of them are smaller as lots of the other competition out there. For the price you're paying, especially for the XZ2, which is around 700 pound in the UK, I do definitely think it should be a little bit cheaper for what you're getting but overall these are some pretty good devices if you want something without a notch and with some of these other features. Now the final device in my list is probably no surprise and they are once again joint because they are very similar devices. And they are the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. Although these may be incremental updates compared to last year's devices, they are great all all rounders. They've got a great build and design, the best displays on the market right now, the super AMOLED displays with the Quad HD Plus resolution in my opinion is the best out there.

We've got super small bevels without a notch. We've got several speakers this year, we've got a 3.5 with the headphone jack. We've got expandable memory, we've got fast charging, we've got fast wireless charging, we've got water resistance. They just take so many of the boxes, they're very smooth devices overall and we've got great cameras. The S9's are the only smartphones out there with a dual aperture which is very cool and the widest aperture on a smartphone at 1.5 which is great for low light photography. Now battery life in my opinion could be a little bit better but for most people, the S9 and the S9 Plus are going to be absolutely fine. Yes, they are a little bit on the pricier side, but in my opinion you do get what you pay for and the all around package that you get on the S9's makes them some of the best smartphones out this year and for all of those reasons, the S9 Plus has been my daily driver for the most part of this year and will not probably be replaced when we do have the (mumbles) run. So those are my top five picks. You might be thinking where are some of the other devices like the HTC U12+. That's not currently available. I checked on the websites, in the UK at least, it's going to be released end of July to August, so I've not had a chance to test this out yet. I'm really impressed with the Oppo Find X as well as the VIVO Nex. These are devices which, unfortunately, I've not had a chance to try out yet. That's my top five list. What is yours?
